How did Casey get to where he is today?
At ODC, we know that “opportunity + support + personal effort = achievement”! Casey’s “opportunity” began in 2013, when he joined ODC’s center-based services. While there, he joined a social skills class and participated in ODC work crews to take his first “small steps” toward community employment.
With the help of DVR, ODC job coaches then offered Casey the “support” he needed while performing a temporary work experience at 8th Street Auto in Wisconsin Rapids in 2015. He did so well that the business hired him to detail cars!
This year, Casey decided to make a job change, and is now working full time at Unifirst Corporation in Wisconsin Rapids. He also made the decision to take another big step toward independence by moving into his own apartment.
We know that, along with the opportunities and support he received, Casey’s “personal effort” was the key to his success!
Congratulations, Casey, on your nomination for ODC’s 2017 Personal Achievement Award!
