ODC recently celebrated the life of a wonderful friend and colleague, Michael Coleman (Getsinger). Before his passing earlier this year, Michael had worked with ODC, both in the community and in the facility, since graduating from high school almost 27 years ago. He was one of the first individuals served by ODC to work in the community, in a supported employment position at Copps Food Center.
The Getsinger family - including Michael’s parents, Dick and Selma Getsinger, their daughter, Tanya, and their son and his wife, Tim and Tammy – wanted to do something special with the donations made to Michael’s memorial, something that would truly celebrate their son’s life. So everyone agreed… Michael loved his coffee! – and a gift was made to ODC to support a “Gathering for Michael”, a biweekly “free coffee” event where staff and ODC workers can relax before work and enjoy free flavored coffees and teas.
We are so glad that Dick, Selma and their family could join us for the inaugural event… and we’re so grateful for their support. Michael will always be remembered with a smile.
