On January 1, 2017, ODC and Community Industries Corporation (CIC) made it official… we are now one organization!
The merger of our two organizations, which are both celebrating 52 years of serving the needs of individuals with disabilities, is a “win-win” according to Gary Cumley, past chairperson of the CIC board of directors.
“Combining the resources of both organizations will provide those we serve with even more opportunities to fully participate in their communities as valued members,” said Cumley, who is now vice-chair of the merged organization’s board.
The legal name of the merged organization is ODC, but services currently offered by CIC will continue to be provided under that name at this time.
ODC has locations in Wisconsin Rapids and Marshfield, and serves over 500 individuals with disabilities in Wood, Portage, Marathon, Lincoln, Taylor and Clark counties. By combining with CIC, ODC will now serve approximately 150 more individuals in Portage and Marathon counties from physical locations in Stevens Point, Plover and Wausau. The organization will continue to provide skills training, career exploration, job search assistance, and long-term, on-the-job support for people with disabilities as well as day services programs that provide life skills education, volunteer opportunities and community exploration activities.
“After visiting the ODC facility in Wisconsin Rapids, I knew that this merger would benefit our clients, our staff and the communities we serve,” said Sherri Galle-Teske, who has joined the ODC board of directors after serving on the CIC board. “We will now be able to enhance our services for everyone in our area.”
