Project SEARCH isn’t just about preparing for the world of work. Interns participating in this high school transition program for young adults with disabilities are also preparing for a life of citizenship after high school, learning the joy and pride that comes from giving to others.
Volunteering is one way of giving back, and this month’s opportunity was serving a dinner at The Neighborhood Table, a charitable organization that provides free meals to anyone in need. Six interns gave of their time including Kevin (left) and Crystal (right).
Much like ODC, The Neighborhood Table’s mission is to improve quality of life for community residents and create an awareness of needs that exist in the community. Our Project SEARCH interns are not only participating in a program designed to improve their quality of life, they are also helping others to do the same.
