2026 May Mental Health Awareness Month-Apparel Design Contest/Fundraiser
In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month in May, Opportunity for Hope Mental Health Clinic is launching a community-wide apparel design contest/fundraiser. We are inviting artists within the categories below to create original designs that reflect mental health, wellness, hope, resilience and connection.
Selected designs will be featured on apparel, bags or other promotional items ans sold as part of a fundraiser to support the Opportunity for Hope Clinic-helping to expand access to mental health services in our community.
Participants must live, work, or attend school in Wood or Portage County, WI. The contest is open to community members including:
Middle School Students
High School Students
College Students
Adult Community Members
Designs will be reviewed and awarded, to ensure fairness, for (1) Middle School (2) High School (3) College (4) Community Adult
Each category will have a Judge’s Choice Winner (selected by a panel of ODC Staff) and a Community Choice Winner (selected via Opportunity for Hope Facebook Page)
Designs should reflect one or more of the following themes:
Mental Health Awareness
Wellness and Self-Care
Hope and Resilience
Connection and Community
Recovery and Support
Designs must be appropriate for all ages, respectful and inclusive. They may NOT INCLUDE profanity, hate speech, discriminatory language, graphic, violent or triggering imagery.
All submissions must be original work created by the submitting artist
Designs may NOT include: copyrighted images, characters, logos, or brand names. Traced or copied artwork from existing designs
By submitting a design, the artist confirms that they own full rights to the artwork and that the work does not infringe on any copyright or intellectual property rights
Each participant may submit only one design
Designs must be submitted by posted deadline. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED
By submitting a design, the artist grants Opportunity for Hope permission to reproduce the design for fundraising purposes
The artist will receive credit for their work
Preferred digital submission formats: PNG, JPG or PDF
Hand-drawn designs are welcome IF clearly scanned or photographed
Any artistic style is welcome (hand-drawn, digital, abstract, literal, graphic or typography
There are no restrictions on number of colors or design size
JUDGES’ CHOICE
A review committee consisting of Opportunity for Hope staff, Mental Health Professionals and educators and community representatives, will evaluate the designs based on creativity, message and alignment with mental health awareness.
Judges’ Choice winners in each category are guaranteed to be included in the apparel fundraiser.
COMMUNITY CHOICE
All submitted designs that meet guidelines will be posted on Opportunity for Hope’s Facebook page for community voting. Community members may vote by LIKING a design post. Post can be shared to garner more likes. The design with the most likes will be selected as the winner. Voting will be open for a defined period (dates to be announced).
A portion of all proceeds from apparel sales will support Opportunity for Hope Outpatient Mental Health Clinic, helping increase access to mental health services in our community.
Recognition and Incentives
Winning designers in each category will receive:
A free piece of apparel featuring their design
Public recognition via Opportunity for Hope’s website and social media
Certificate of recognition
Finalists may also be featured in promotional materials during Mental Health Awareness Month
